Choosing the colors that look best on you can be complicated.  Color typing theories involve analyzing hair color, eye color, skin tones and even the vein color on the inside of your wrist.  Below are just some brief helpful hints.  

Also keep in mind your shirt color should be in contrast to your portrait location background color (i.e. white shirt won't look good in front of a white building).  

Autumn: 

• DARK hair with golden or red highlights, normally dark eyes
• Best Colors:  autumn leaf colors, lighter white, camel, beige, brown, tan coffee, chocolate, mahogany, bronze, warm gray, navy, teal, deep periwinkle, deep turquoise, yellow green, lime, olive, jade, forest green, all oranges, deep peach, apricot, salmon, rust, terra cotta, orange-reds, bittersweet, dark tomato, brown burgundy, any gold, deeper yellow gold, deep purple, Avoid (black close to face, no pink), Jewelry (gold)

Winter: 

• DARK hair with no highlights, normally brown or black hair, deep colored eyes
• Best Colors: dark, bright colors, white, black, gray, gray beige, dark chocolate brown, navy, bright blue, turquoise, icy green, emerald green, pink, magenta, fuchsia, true red, blue red, bright burgundy, lemon yellow, royal purple, Avoid (orange, gold), Jewelry (silver)

Spring: 

• LIGHT hair with golden or red highlights, normally paler eye colors
• Best Colors: pale soft colors, lighter white, beige, camel, golden brown, any navy, true blue, periwinkle, aqua, turquoise, yellow green, pastel green, apricot, light orange, peach, salmon, coral, coral pink, peachy pink, warm pink, clear bright red, orange-red, light gold, bright golden yellow, pale golden yellow, all purples, Avoid (black close to face, no burgundy close to the face), Jewelry (gold)

Summer: 

• LIGHT hair with no highlights, normally natural blond
• Best Colors: soft colors, pastels, soft white, rose beige, rose brown/cocoa, light blue gray, navy, powder blue, sky blue, periwinkle, pastel aqua, pastel to deep blue-green, pastel pink, watermelon, blue-red, raspberry, blue burgundy, light lemon yellow, lavender, orchid, mauve, soft fuchsia, plum, Avoid (black close to face, orange, gold), Jewelry (silver)
