KloosPix, Inc. Specializing in Sports, Family and Event Photography
We are Fraser, Michigan residents who started our business after our last child graduated high school. For many years we have enjoyed photographing our kids and maybe yours too while they were playing a sport. Primarily this was softball and baseball in our family, but we also enjoyed volleyball and basketball for a few years. It seems each year Sue was upgrading our camera trying to get better shots of the kids, and she never solely photographed just our kids. She would make a point to snap photos of every player and especially those playing who spent a lot of time on the bench. At year end she would always share the photos she had taken with the parents in some kind of book.
In 2010 our daughter was to play her last season of high school softball; Sue had upgraded our camera once again, and had improved her skills enough to produce a web page for the team. She would upload the photos as soon as she got home from each game and found the kids and parents loved it. At season end she found she had uploaded over 8,500 pictures to that website; then she produced photo books for each player, one special 4 year book for the coach and one movie made from the images set to music for everyone to watch at the banquet. The families seemed to really appreciate everything and asked her what they would do without her the next year; she shrugged and went on her way and mentioned to Steve, that perhaps we could take photos like this again when we retire.
On the morning of our daughters commencement she had taken some photographs of another player in her cap and gown whose family was unable to afford pictures for her senior year. She quickly printed out 2 5x7s and 48 wallets for her to have at her party. When some of her guests came to our daughters party they let us know how much the photos meant to the family and how impressed they were with them. Some of these parents starting asking Sue to take their kids senior photos. She reminded them that she was NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER........but some persisted and Sue LOVED taking these photos, especially of the kids playing sports.
Within weeks Sue found she was really missing all the photography and began creating composite posters of the players from the school season and began to photograph the summer ball team. The posters got a lot of attention as did the website for the summer team. She began to get comments from parents like "my dad, who has cancer burst into tears when he was able to see the pictures you posted of his granddaughter, thank you" and other similar comments that touched her heart in ways she cannot even begin to explain.
After much thought and discussions we decided we would start up a family photography business based on sports photography. Our son, Brent decided he would love to photograph sports too and our daughter is very interested in marketing and running a business so after college they might just make a great team to carry on the business. A big investment in equipment, word of mouth and a lot of hard work was needed to make this happen; soon we photographed our first high school senior, followed by a couple weddings and then we began to get calls from parents who wanted us to create posters for teams and take pictures of their kids during games. We followed one volleyball team to regional finals and produced a movie and collages for year end, it was very exciting to be part of that winning spirit and to capture their emotions and amazing athletic skills with our new canon.
And so here we are today, with our first annual KloosPix Class of 2012 sampler behind us, partial coverage for one volleyball team, three softball teams, two soccer teams, 2 small weddings, 15 photobooth rentals, over 20 senior portrait sessions and the complete season coverage for the FHS Football team.
The bottom line is Sue has found a passion in this work and the entire family supports her by helping out from handling the company books to shooting pictures and designing banners and we all feel so blessed to realize this is a gift and can share it with others. Working with the kids is a blessing in itself and may even be Sue's fountain of youth!
When you love what you do, it can hardly be called work! Thanks so much for visiting and taking the time to read this, we hope to serve you soon!
Sincerely,
Sue, Steve, Brent and Katie Kloosterboer
